At the Istanbul Aydın University Education and Life Complex that we established in the Nurdağı district of Gaziantep, our team consisting of the university’s academics and students has been continuing the fieldwork it has been carrying out since April.
To date, our university has achieved the following: Volunteers from the Faculty of Dentistry conducted dental screenings in all villages and all schools affiliated with the Nurdağı district and carried out dental examinations for 1,038 people. Volunteers from the Preschool Teaching Department, in coordination with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, reached a total of 2,247 people in kindergartens and, together with the Department of Child Development, reached 3,784 students.
Volunteers from the Faculty of Sports Sciences reached students in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and organized sports activities and competitions. Our volunteers from the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance, in coordination with the Ministry of Family and Social Services and Non-Governmental Organizations in the region, provided psychological support to 937 people in the area.
Our volunteers from the Hair Care and Beauty Department provided care services to a total of 558 people at the beauty center located in the container city. Volunteers from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics carried out healthy nutrition training in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Our volunteers from the Department of Social Work, in cooperation with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, identified individuals’ needs and conducted interviews in line with psychosocial support requests.
