An article by Dr. İhlas Sovbetov, a faculty member in the Department of Economics and Finance at Istanbul Aydın University, discussing our university’s “Social Transcript” initiative, has been published on the Times Higher Education (THE) Campus platform.
The published article examines a system that goes beyond evaluating student experience only through academic grades, making students’ social and cultural achievements visible, measurable, and meaningful. The Social Transcript model that is implemented by us, as IAU, provides a holistic development framework by systematically recognizing students’ extracurricular competencies.
A New Competency-Based Era in Higher Education
The Social Transcript initiative introduced by our university represents a comprehensive ecosystem in higher education that not only values academic success but also enhances the competitiveness of our graduates in the professional world. By documenting our students’ social development processes in a data-driven and systematic way, this model makes competencies measurable and guides our graduates to become strong figures in their professional lives. With this approach, IAU is shaping the graduate profile of the future by blending theoretical knowledge with social competencies.
