Prof. Dr. Hacı Duran Evaluated Turkey’s Rapidly Aging Population on 24 TV

Head of the Sociology Department, Prof. Dr. Hacı Duran, shared his views on the issue of Turkey’s aging population during the Evening News broadcast on Kanal 24 TV on August 26, 2026. Sharing his thoughts during interviews conducted by the channel’s reporters who visited our university, Duran stated that Turkey’s population is aging very rapidly and that in the upcoming period, there might not even be enough young and adult population to take care of the elderly. He stated that the duration of education and prospects of finding a job have pushed the marriage age up to around 29. He noted that Turkey’s most fundamental problem is the aging of its population, stating that this issue is more dangerous for Turkey than terrorism and attacks by foreign countries.
