The Relationship Between Public Relations and Journalism in Turkey: Problems and Solutions Workshop
Hosted by Istanbul Aydın University, the workshop titled “The Relationship Between Public Relations and Journalism in Turkey: Problems and Solutions” brought together leading figures from the sector on Thursday, March 7, 2024, between 09:30 and 16:00. Organized in cooperation with professional associations by the Departments of Public Relations and Promotion and Journalism of the Faculty of Communication, the workshop aimed to analyze the relationship between the professions of public relations and journalism, discuss the problems identified through situation analysis, propose solutions, and evaluate new relationship and revenue models within the framework of professional ethics.
Moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Akbulut, Head of the Department of Public Relations and Promotion, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sertaç Kaya, Head of the Department of Journalism, the sessions addressed the dimensions of the relationship between public relations and journalism, the transforming media structure, and new revenue models. The workshop was attended by leading journalists, academics, and industry professionals such as İpek Özgüden Özen, Murat Göllü, Bülent Fidan, Belma Akçura, Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan, Recep Erçin, Can Uğur, Serhat Özkütükcü, Kenan Şener, Ekrem Uca, Dilan Baransel, Gökhan Durmuş, and Ahmet Yeşiltepe. The workshop report will be shared with the public in the coming days.
