Disaster and Emergency Pharmacy – Pharmaceutical Services in Extraordinary Situations

On the occasion of Earthquake Week (March 1–7), PharmAydın and Aydın ADEC student clubs organized an event titled “Pharmaceutical Services in Extraordinary Situations” on March 3, 2025, at Istanbul Aydın University Florya Campus, led by Specialist Pharmacist İlhan Durgut. The event began with a verbal presentation at 16:00 in D Block Orange Hall. The presentation included high-quality, awareness-raising information about disasters, emergencies, and potential dangers. The message “In the first minutes of a disaster, everyone is on their own; only our preparedness and knowledge can protect us” had a strong impact on all participants.

The event continued with practical training. Students observed and participated in the preparation of iodine solution, vital sign checks, safe patient transport techniques, and actions that should be avoided. The attention and interest of participants were remarkable throughout the hands-on session.
