A poetry and debate competition was held among the TÖMER centers at İAÜ (İstanbul Aydın University).
A poetry and debate competition was held on June 3, 2022, by the Istanbul Aydın University Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center, with the participation of 80 international students from 25 different TÖMERs (Turkish Language Teaching Centers).
The competition, held simultaneously in different halls, attracted great interest from students and their advisors.
AFTER THE OPENING SPEECHES, THE COMPETITION BEGAN…
Following a moment of silence and the national anthem, the opening speeches were given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah Boylu, Director of the Istanbul Aydın University Aydın TÖMER. He stated, “There is no first place winner in our competition. You are all already winners in our hearts. We know that it will be a beautiful, sweet, and competitive competition. I wish success to everyone participating in the competition.” Following this, the jury members of the poetry and debate competition, Prof. Dr. Bayram Baş from Yıldız Technical University, poet and writer Bestami Yazgan, musician and writer Harun Yöndem, and Istanbul Aydın University faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hale Torun, Dr. [Name missing], spoke in turn. Hüseyin Kazan and Ayten Çalış Kurtçu delivered their speeches. After the jury members wished the participants success, the poetry and debate competition began in different halls.
A FIERCE COMPETITION ENSUED IN THE DEBATE COMPETITION…
A friendly and competitive atmosphere prevailed in the poetry and debate competition, which was held for the first time this year. In the first round, Istanbul University DİLMER (Group I) and Istanbul Galata University competed; in the second round, Istanbul Aydın University and Istanbul University DİLMER (Group II); in the third round, Hitit University and Bursa Uludağ University; and in the fourth round, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa competed. In the highly exciting and competitive competition, students defended their theses and antitheses on the designated topics. EMOTIONAL MOMENTS WERE EXPERIENCED AT THE POETRY COMPETITION…
80 international students from 25 different universities recited their poems, chosen under the theme of “TURKEY,” with great enthusiasm and excitement. According to the results announced by the jury members at the end of the competition; first place went to Akbota ABRENOVA from Başkent University, second place to Akbarshokh AKHMADALIEV from Haliç University, and third place to Uriie SEITUMEROVA from Bursa Uludağ University.
AWARDS WERE PRESENTED TO THE WINNING STUDENTS…
Following the announcement of the results of the poetry and debate competition, the awards were presented to the winning students by Aydın TÖMER Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah Boylu and the Jury Members. Finally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. gave the closing speeches. Emrah Boylu extended his thanks to all participants.
