IAU 2024-2025 Academic Year Opening Ceremony was held with the participation of Minister of Justice Y\u0131lmaz Tun\u00e7. The ceremony, which was attended by academics and students, started with the fashion show of our Department of Textile and Fashion Design. The opening speech of the ceremony was made by our Rector Prof. Dr. \u0130brahim Hakk\u0131 Ayd\u0131n.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. \u0130brahim Hakk\u0131 Ayd\u0131n started his opening speech by greeting the guests and emphasized the importance of universities, which play a critical role in producing knowledge and social development. Prof. Dr. Ayd\u0131n addressed the students and said, “The only thing you need to make a difference in your life is knowledge. You are the hope and bright future of this country. You are the hope and bright future of this country.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Science and technology will mark the new century”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Rector Prof. Dr. \u0130brahim Hakk\u0131 Ayd\u0131n, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ayd\u0131n started his speech by wishing the new academic year to be auspicious. Prof. Dr. Ayd\u0131n stated that our Republic has entered a new century and said, “In the new century, science and technology will leave their mark on the future. Universities that follow these can be independent if they assimilate them and offer them to the service of society. Otherwise, we cannot progress.” He used his expressions. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ayd\u0131n said in his speech to the academics, “Dear professors, this physical space comes alive and enlightens thanks to you. You raise today’s young people as the fireflies of the future, you raise them with your heart.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ayd\u0131n advised young people that they should be open to all kinds of development, but that they should not break away from their roots while doing so, stating that “A tree that is severed from its roots is doomed to dry up.” He used the expressions. Prof. Dr. Ayd\u0131n said, “What you give up for and why is important. How much you sacrifice, how selfless you are, how loyal you are, these are very important.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Universities play a major role in equipping people with knowledge and wisdom”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking the floor last, Minister of Justice Y\u0131lmaz Tun\u00e7 underlined that Istanbul Ayd\u0131n University is an important and prominent university with its strong departments and research staff. Minister Tun\u00e7 said, “Universities are the center of science, research and development. Universities have a great role in equipping people with knowledge and wisdom.”  Stating that universities are institutions that produce and disseminate knowledge, Minister Tun\u00e7 drew attention to the role of universities in social development by saying, “Universities contribute to the development of humanity as well as providing professions.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pointing out that they attach great importance to the education of girls, Y\u0131lmaz Tun\u00e7 said, “We attached great importance to the schooling of our girls. We now see that there are more girls than boys in universities. In the exam for assistant judges and prosecutors, girls were 60% more successful and now they have started working as assistant judges and prosecutors. Therefore, we have endeavored to increase the schooling rate of our girls in kindergarten, primary school and secondary education. Efforts have been made to increase the opportunities of our students in higher education.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the ceremony, our academics who achieved international success received their awards from the Minister of Justice Y\u0131lmaz Tun\u00e7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
