“Arbitration Law Symposium” was held at our university. Twenty-three valuable speakers took part in the two-day symposium consisting of six sessions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening speech of the symposium, which took place in two days and six sessions, was made by our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. \u0130brahim Hakk\u0131 Ayd\u0131n. Prof. Dr. Ayd\u0131n stated that the symposium will be productive and expressed that they are pleased to host valuable jurists and put an end to his speech by stating that everyone should have full faith in the rule of law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After opening speeches, the first session began. Prof. Dr. Haluk Nami Nomer chaired the first session, while Prof. Dr. Musa Ayg\u00fcl made presentations on “Arbitration Agreement”, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Erkan on “Third Party Financing in Arbitration Proceedings”, Prof. Dr. O\u011fuz Atalay on “The Effect of Stopping of Trial on the Duration of Arbitration” and Prof. Dr. R\u0131fat Erten on “Judicial Decisions on Provisional Legal Protection Measures in Arbitration Proceedings”. After presentations, the speakers answered the questions of the participants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second session was chaired by Prof. Dr. R\u0131fat Erten, Prof. Dr. Bilgin Tiryakio\u011flu presented “What Makes Investment Arbitration Different from Commercial Arbitration”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Manav presented “T\u00fcrkiye’s Investment Arbitration Practices”, Prof. Dr. Ahmet D\u00fclger presented “The Concept of Investment in Bilateral and Multilateral Investment Treaties between Members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation”, and Prof. Dr. Aysun Bolaca presented “A Close Look at the Concept of ‘ESG’ (Environmental Impact-Social Responsibility and Governance) in Investor-State Arbitration”. Prof. Dr. Aysun Bolaca made a presentation on “A Close Look at the Concept of ‘ESG’ (Environmental Impact-Social Responsibility and Governance) in Investor-State Arbitration”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the last session of the first day, Prof. Dr. \u0130smail Kayar chaired the session, while Prof. Dr. Sel\u00e7uk \u00d6ztek made presentations on “Waiver of Legal Remedies against Arbitral Awards”, Prof. Dr. Ali Ye\u015fil\u0131rmak on “Burden of Production and Substitution of Evidence in Arbitration”, Prof. Dr. Ersin Erdo\u011fan on “Arbitrability of Bankruptcy Cases”, and Prof. Dr. Muhammet \u00d6zekes on “Ineffective Judgment and Null Judgment in Arbitration”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first session of the second day, Prof. Dr. O\u011fuz Atalay chaired the session, while Prof. Dr. Hatice \u00d6zdemir Kocasakal made presentations on “Support Judge within the Framework of the International Arbitration Law”, Prof. Dr. Mesut Ayg\u00fcn on “Violation of Arbitration Procedure as a Ground for Annulment”, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do\u011fa El\u00e7in on “Are There Legal Remedies Against Arbitral Awards rendered upon Settlement?”.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Haluk Burcuo\u011flu and Prof. Dr. Cemile Demir G\u00f6kyayla made a presentation titled “Content Examination in Cases of Enforcement of Arbitral Awards”, Prof. Dr. Sibel \u00d6zel made a presentation titled “The Effect of Public Order on Enforcement in Arbitration” and Prof. Dr. Vahit Do\u011fan made a presentation titled “Enforcement Obstacle Regarding the Competence of Arbitrators”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Vahit Do\u011fan, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. \u0130brahim Ermenek (Member of the Court) “EDAC (Energy Disputes Arbitration Center)”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alper \u00c7a\u011fr\u0131 Y\u0131lmaz (Deputy Secretary General) “OIC-AC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Center)”, Esq. R\u0131fat Bacanl\u0131 (Chairman of the Executive Board) “TBB Arbitration Center”, Esq. Senem Bah\u00e7ekap\u0131l\u0131 Vincenzi (Secretary General) “ITOTAM (Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Center)”, Esq. Yasin Ekmen (Secretary General) “\u0130STAC (Istanbul Arbitration Center)”. Afterwards, the questions posed by the speakers were answered. The two-day symposium was concluded after the presentation of the plaques of appreciation and a group photo was taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
