The “Healthy Societies Together” Workshop was organized at our university
Under the patronage of the Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV), with support from Istanbul Aydın University’s Faculty of Medicine and the Health Service Policies, a Public Health Workshop was organized with the motto of “Together for Healthy Societies.”
The Workshop was held in honor of Public Health Week from September 3-7, and addressed significant public health topics in a comprehensive gathering.
The Workshop which was led by the President of AKEV Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın and Vice President Elif Aydın, was moderated by Istanbul Aydın University’s Faculty of Medicine members Prof. Dr. Mine Ergüven and Dr. Arta Armani. The workshop included expert academicians across different fields such as medicine, dentistry, health, pharmacy, food, and gastronomy, with important civil society organizations like the Chamber of Food Engineers (TMMOB GIDAMO) and the Phenylketonuria Association.
Comprehensive Topics and Groups
Three main discussion groups were formed, Medicine-Health, Food-Agriculture, and Public, where topics such as regulation, health education, disease prevention, and treatment methods were deeply discussed. The most current public health issues were discussed from various perspectives, and solutions were developed. An important feature of this workshop was the direct involvement of the public in the discussions.
Informations from Wise Ones
The workshop took an innovative step by giving the public a voice in public health discussions. Citizens awarded the title of “Wise Ones” through the Wisdom Program, from various professions such as teaching, journalism, and banking, participated to the workshop and shared their views and suggestions. This contributions helped to a better understanding of the health perceptions and needs of different societal groups.
Conclusions and Future Projections
At the end of the workshop, participants who analyzed the current state of the health system and public health, created projections and recommendations for the future. These recommendations included projects and policy proposals that aimed at improving public health. The workshop aimed to develop concrete projects to improve public welfare, and important steps were taken towards this goal.
