Workshop on the Roles of Local Governments and NGOs in Individual Preparedness for Disasters
Hosted by our university in cooperation with the Anatolian Culture and Education Foundation, Beylikdüzü Municipality, Disaster Training Application and Research Center (AFAM), and the Department of Public Relations and Promotion, a workshop titled “The Roles of Local Governments and NGOs in Individual Preparedness for Disasters” was held.
The workshop was attended by nearly 200 experts from 12 universities, 24 NGOs, and 14 district municipalities, as well as Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, Istanbul Aydın University Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Hakkı Aydın, Deputy Governor Mahmut Hersanlıoğlu, AFAD Istanbul Provincial Director Prof. Dr. Haluk Özener, academics, and students. The aim was to create synergy between local governments and NGOs and contribute to social resilience against a possible Istanbul earthquake.
