Prof. Dr. Murat Soygeniş Receives International Distinguished Alumni Award from the University at Buffalo

Prof. Dr. Murat Soygeniş, faculty member of the Department of Architecture at IstanbulAydın University Faculty of Architecture and Design, has been awarded the International Distinguished Alumni Award 2025 by the University at Buffalo in recognition of his originalprofessional approaches, his work prioritizing public benefit, and his research and academicactivities. The award was formally presented during a ceremony held on October 4, 2025.

This award program, which has become a longstanding tradition at the University at Buffalo, nominates alumni who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievements andsignificant contributions to society. Among the nominees, award recipients are selected by an independent selection committee. Prof. Dr. Murat Soygeniş’s distinguished contributions tothe architectural profession and to architectural education were cited as the primary reasonsfor his selection for this prestigious honor.

In the committee’s evaluations, particular emphasis was placed on Prof. Dr. Soygeniş’s effortsto build strong bridges between professional practice and academia, as well as betweenresearch and architectural education. It was also highlighted that his professionalcontributions serve as guidance for young architects at both local and global levels, and thathis architectural projects and works are characterized by environmentally conscious, minimalist approaches that place value on essential principles.
