Disaster and Emergency Pharmacy – Pharmaceutical Services in Extraordinary Situations

Due to Earthquake Week, observed between 1–7 March, PharmAydın and Aydın ADEC student clubs organized an event titled “Pharmaceutical Services in Extraordinary Situations” on 3 March 2025 at Istanbul Aydın University Florya Campus, delivered by Expert Pharmacist İlhan Durgut. The event began at 16:00 in D Block Orange Hall with a verbal presentation. The presentation provided high-quality, awareness-raising information on disasters, emergencies, and potential hazards we may face. The statement “In the first minutes of disasters, everyone is on their own; only our own preparedness and knowledge can protect us” particularly impacted participants. Following the presentation, the event continued with hands-on practice, including iodine solution preparation, patient vital checks, safe transport techniques, and critical “do-not-do” scenarios. Participants watched attentively as students actively took part in the hands-on session.
