Our Faculty’s First Scientific Event “1st Symposium on Patient Safety in Drug Therapy” Was Held
On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the “1st Patient Safety in Drug Therapy Symposium,” the first scientific event of our faculty, was held in three sessions in the Turquoise Hall of Block T, with the participation of numerous academic staff and students. Following the opening speeches by our Rector, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Hakkı Aydın, and our Dean, Prof. Dr. A. Nurten Özdemir, the symposium began with Session I on Drugs Used in Chronic Diseases, chaired by Prof. Dr. Fikret Vehbi İzzettin and Prof. Dr. İlkay Küçükgüzel. Prof. Dr. Şule Apikoğlu gave a presentation on “Drug Errors,” Prof. Dr. Elif Gülsüm Ümit on “Anticoagulant, Antiplatelet and Thrombolytic Drugs,” and Prof. Dr. Kubilay Karşıdağ on “Diabetic Drugs.”
Prof. Dr. Fikret Vehbi İzzettin and Prof. Dr. In Session II on Medications Used in Chronic Diseases, chaired by Yusuf Öztürk, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ağırbaşlı spoke on “Drugs Used in Cardiovascular Diseases” and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Songül Tezcan spoke on “Patient Safety in Oncological Drugs”.
In the final session, chaired by Prof. Dr. Fikriye Uras and Prof. Dr. Bedia Kaymakçıoğlu, on the Changing Role of Pharmacists in Drug Therapy and Pharmacovigilance Worldwide, Prof. Dr. Semra Sardaş spoke on “Pharmacovigilance/Rational Drug Use”, Prof. Dr. Mesut Sancar spoke on “The Role of Pharmacists is Changing Worldwide to Ensure Safe Drug Use”, and Dr. Kemale Leyla Bingöl shared information and experiences on “Malpractice and its Legal Aspects in Drug Therapy”.
