Workshop on “The Roles of Local Governments and NGOs in Individual Preparedness Against Disasters”

The multi-stage workshop titled “The Roles of Local Governments and NGOs in Individual Preparedness Against Disasters,” organized by the IAU Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Publicity in cooperation with Beylikdüzü Municipality and IAU AKEV, will be held as a closed session on Thursday, December 19, hosted by Istanbul Aydın University, with nearly 200 participants from 12 different universities, 24 different NGOs, and 14 different district municipalities.

The opening speeches of the workshop program, which will start at 10:00, will be delivered by Istanbul AFAD Director Prof. Dr. Haluk Özener, Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, and Deputy Governor Responsible for Disasters Mahmut Hersanlıoğlu.

The main objective of the workshop is to raise awareness with local governments, non-governmental organizations, and universities, which play an important role in individual preparedness—one of the first steps in being prepared for disasters and creating a resilient society. All our academic staff and students are invited to the opening ceremony.
