Dr. Tuğba Gülal, Head of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema (English), actively participated in the seminar titled “Mass Media,” organized by the U.S.-based Foundation for Philosophical Orientation on March 10, 2025, contributing through questions and discussions.

In the seminar, the role of mass media in contemporary society was examined from a philosophical perspective, emphasizing that media functions not merely as a tool for information transmission, but also as an active agent in meaning production, perception construction, and the shaping of social reality. In particular, the effects of media structures transformed by digitalization, algorithms, and data flows on the relationships between individuals, society, and knowledge were comprehensively evaluated and philosophically contextualized.

Enriched by contributions from participants across different disciplines and countries, the seminar provided a productive platform for rethinking media studies on a philosophical ground.
