Our faculty member, Assist. Prof. Dr. Gizem Sena Elagöz, participated in the workshop entitled “What Does the Pharmaceutical Industry Expect from Pharmacy Education?”, organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy at Yeditepe University on May 21, 2026, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The workshop featured distinguished speakers from the pharmaceutical industry, including Dr. Pharmacist Egemen Bilgin, Regional Manager of Patient Safety for the Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa at Merck Group; Specialist Pharmacist Emre Aldeniz, Pharmaceutical Technical Center Manager at IMCD Türkiye; and Dr. Pharmacist Salih Gümrü, Clinical Science Director for Internal Medicine at Pfizer.

During the workshop, participants discussed various career opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry, the roles and responsibilities of pharmacists working in these areas, and the expectations of the sector from pharmacy students. Information was provided on internship opportunities, post-graduation career planning, and professional competencies, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session with students.

The workshop, attended by both academics and students, also served as a platform for exchanging ideas on the further development of pharmacy education. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of communication skills and statistical competencies. The event concluded successfully as a productive forum that strengthened collaboration between academia and the pharmaceutical industry.
