Barriers faced by individuals with disabilities in their daily lives—often arising from social structures and individual attitudes—constitute a significant issue that must be addressed not only at the individual level but also within a broader social context. In this regard, the “Barrier/less (Engel/Sizken)” themed student poster exhibition, organized by the Department of Graphic Design of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Istanbul Aydın University within the scope of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, aims to critically visualize these issues through poster design. The exhibition features a total of 27 poster works created by students.
The exhibition primarily focuses on making visible the neglect and violation of the rights of individuals with disabilities, as well as the discriminatory attitudes they encounter in social life. It is planned to expand the event in the future with the participation of design students from different universities, thereby encouraging young designers to produce work with a sense of social responsibility and increasing the visibility of disability-related awareness efforts among university youth.
